The Michael Kamin Hart Memorial Scholarships

The Michael Kamin Hart Memorial Scholarship – the IIDR’s most prestigious award – is awarded to three trainees and one staff member who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership and the same enthusiasm for science that was evident in Michael. Awarded on the recommendation of the IIDR Executive Committee, the selected recipients receive a monetary award (values vary) and are invited to present a talk on their research on the day of the event.

The Gerard Wright Postdoctoral Award in Infection Research

This newly established award is presented to an IIDR Postdoctoral or MD Fellow whose research, published or unpublished, has made a significant contribution to the field of infectious disease research over the past year. The successful candidate, selected by the IIDR Executive Committee, receives an award amount of $1000 and is invited to present their research at this year’s IIDR Trainee Research Day.

Mildred Gulliver Scholarships in Infectious Disease Research

Established in 2009 by the estate of Mildred Katleen Hodgson, the Mildred Gulliver Graduate Scholarships are awarded to one graduate student and one postdoctoral fellow affiliated with the IIDR. Recipients are recognized for their significant contribution to anti-infective research and receive a scholarship amount of $1000. The postdoctoral fellow award is selected beforehand by the IIDR Executive Committee, and the MSc/PhD recipient is selected from the group of trainees presenting talks at this year’s event.

IIDR Awards of Excellence

The IIDR will present Awards of Excellence to students who present the best poster during this year’s event. Three awards – valued at $500 each – will be given to a postdoctoral fellow, a PhD student, and a Master’s student.

Fisher Scientific Undergraduate Poster Award

One award, valued at $500, will be awarded to an undergraduate student who delivers the best poster presentation at this year’s Trainee Day.
