Biography

Dr. Steffanie Strathdee is Associate Dean of Global Health Sciences, Harold Simon Professor and Chief of the Division of Global Public Health in the Department of Medicine at the University of California San Diego, and Co-Director of the Center for Innovative Phage Applications. She is also a Member of the Gairdner Global Health adjudication committee. Dr. Strathdee’s research interests largely involve looking at phage therapy as a treatment for superbug infections. Recognized globally as “The Superbug Slayer”, Dr. Strathdee wrote a compelling book entitled The Perfect Predator on how she saved her husband’s life with phage, and in turn, created a new Center to better explore the potential of phage therapy.
